My Media Life - Week 1

My Media Life - Blog Post Week 1

My first media memory was watching cartoons like Mickey Mouse on Television. When i was a child television was the famous media. Sitting in front of the tv and laughing at cartoons was one of favorite thing as a child. As i grow older i watched documentaries like discovery. Those increased my knowledge about nature and as a result of those things i did bio science for my advanced level too. When i was at grade 4 in the school i remember i was watching harry potter from the television and suddenly a breaking news was broadcasted in the television saying that a Tsunami has came to southern cost of Sri Lanka. It was terrifying. It made me realize about the natural disasters happening around the world.

Now my media life is mix of old and new. I still like traditional media like newspapers and TV. But usually i read news via online now. I read news from BBC , AL Jazeera and Yle in the morning. For the updates about Sri Lanka i read news from Daily news and Sunday Observer. Social media is another big part of my life. I am not a heavy user but i use Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn to keep my friends and relatives in touch and to keep my professional network. I share updates regarding educational and funny things. Commenting to others post have become a daily routine for me. I enjoy watching Netflix movies when i have a free time. Although i watch funny viral videos i value meaningful content. Finally, for me media is not just for entertainment but a good source of learning.
